Use this free CSSE standardised score calculator to estimate your child’s standardised score from real CSSE 11+ English and maths past papers.

To get the most out of the calculator, ask your child to complete a set of real CSSE 11+ English and maths past papers under timed exam conditions. Mark the papers, make a note of your child’s English and maths scores out of 60, select the correct entry year, enter your child’s date of birth and input their raw scores. The calculator will then give you an idea of what your child’s standardised score would have been had they taken that real paper. You can then view information released by the CSSE for that year showing which scores resulted in offers at CSSE schools.

You can also use the calculator with CSSE-style practice papers by selecting the “Practice Paper Estimate” option. This uses average standardisation data from recent CSSE exams to estimate the kind of standardised score a child might receive if the practice paper were similar in difficulty and structure to the real CSSE exam.

The practice paper estimate can be useful for tracking progress and helping you understand whether your child is broadly on track. However, it should only be treated as a guide. It is not an official CSSE score, it is not a prediction, and it is only meaningful when the practice papers are marked out of 60 for English and 60 for maths and are genuinely similar to the real CSSE papers.
