CSSE 11+ MOCK EXAMS
Realistic CSSE practice for your child. Detailed, practical feedback for you.
My in-person CSSE 11+ mock exam programme is taking a planned break during 2027 and is expected to return in 2028. Join the priority list to receive information about dates, venue and booking before the wider launch.
No in-person mock exams in 2027
After completing the 2026 series, I have decided to take a planned one-year break from hosting in-person mock exams. The programme is expected to return in 2028 with revised dates, venue and package information.
CSSE practice materials, digital resources, tuition and pre-assessment services will remain available throughout 2027.

What I am considering for 2028
My current intention is to return with three distinct in-person CSSE 11+ mock exams during May, June and July 2028. I am considering a North Essex venue within easy reach of Colchester, with Manningtree currently one of the leading options.
Three different papers
Each mock would use a different English and maths paper written by me specifically for CSSE 11+ preparation.
Time to respond to feedback
Spacing the exams across May, June and July would give families time to act on the feedback between sittings.
Realistic conditions
Children would experience timed papers, an unfamiliar test room and an appropriate break between papers.
Detailed feedback
The redesigned package would continue to place particular emphasis on useful marking, model answers and meaningful cohort comparisons.
These arrangements are provisional. Dates, venue, prices and package details will be confirmed before booking opens.
Why take a CSSE 11+ mock exam?
A mock exam is not simply a way to predict a score. It gives children valuable experience, helps families identify useful next steps and makes the real examination feel less unfamiliar.
1. Practise the full examination process
An in-person mock allows your child to experience the timings, structure and atmosphere of a formal CSSE-style examination. They can practise managing their time, working independently and maintaining concentration across both papers.
2. Identify strengths and areas for improvement
It can be difficult to judge your own child’s performance accurately during practice at home. A mock exam shows what your child can apply independently under timed conditions and highlights the topics, question types and exam techniques that may need further attention.
3. Build familiarity and confidence
Many children have never taken an important examination in an unfamiliar venue. Experiencing registration, a formal test room, timed papers and a supervised break can reduce uncertainty and help the real examination feel more manageable.
4. Strengthen recall and application
Retrieving knowledge under test conditions helps children practise applying what they have learnt. Reviewing the paper afterwards can also help them understand mistakes, correct misconceptions and remember successful methods more securely.
5. Measure progress and make targeted improvements
Small improvements can make a meaningful difference in a competitive examination. Taking different mock papers over time allows families to monitor progress, adjust revision and focus preparation where it is most likely to improve performance.
Preparing for the CSSE 11+ during 2027
Although I will not be hosting in-person mock exams during 2027, families will still be able to access a range of CSSE preparation resources and services.
CSSE practice papers
My practice papers allow children to work through original English and maths questions at home. Many include detailed explanations, marking guidance and model responses.
CSSE 11+ pre-assessment
The pre-assessment helps families consider whether 11+ preparation is likely to suit their child and highlights areas of relative strength and weakness.
A free parent-administered version is available, or I can carry out the assessment personally.

Specialist tuition
My small-group tuition focuses on building strong English and maths foundations, developing speed and accuracy and preparing children for the demands of the CSSE examination.

Standardised score calculator
The calculator can help families understand how a raw practice-paper score might translate into an estimated CSSE standardised score.

“During the mock tests, Colin provided targeted, practical feedback on areas like timing, accuracy and exam strategy, advice that proved invaluable in the final stages of preparation.”
-
“She attended two of the mock exams that Colin hosted, which really helped her build confidence so that on the day of the exam she was ready to give it her best shot.”
